At YourLocalDrivingInstructor.co.uk we recommend that you take driving lessons with a fully qualified driving instructor and if you can have some practice with family or friends when you're instructor thinks you're ready! A fully qualified driving instructor will display a green badge on the windscreen of their car. This means that they have passed the final part 3 test (ability to give instruction). Driving instructors that display a pink badge on their windscreen have not yet passed the final part 3 test, but are still licensed to give tuition. All approved driving instructors are regularly checked by the DSA.

The UK theory test now consists of two parts. The multiple choice section and the hazard perception section. For cars and motorcycles from 3 September 2007 you'll be asked 50 questions in 57 minutes and the pass mark is 43 out of 50. For lorries and buses you'll be asked 60 questions in 70 minutes and the pass mark is 51 out of 60. The hazard perception section consists of 14 movie clips, you must score 44 out of a possible 75 marks to pass this part, LGV or PCV candidates must score 50 out of 75.

Before you can start learning to drive, you must hold a valid signed provisional driving licence before you drive on a public road. The minimum age for a UK provisional licence is 17. If you need to apply for your provisional licence you will need the correct forms and identification. We have all the necessary information needed to apply in this section. Licences are obtained by the DVLA which handle all licence applications. The UK Driving test was first introduced 70 years ago and has undergone a lot of changes over the years. The Driving standards agency now conduct about 1.3 million tests a year, and there are 1,635 driving examiners working in the UK.

To pass the practical driving test you must not commit no more than 15 driver faults (minor), or one serious or dangerous fault (major). Nearly 10 people die on our roads every day so all of us who are involved in the driver training industry are very committed to reducing that number.
